the opposite of fear

The approach of a solo trip brings excitement,
but also a sense of anticipation, which unexamined,
can appear apparation-like as fear.
I think it's part of human nature, the darker side of human nature, to give into fear once in a while;
usually when we least expect it,
it sneaks in like a thief in the night.
Hindsight is 20/15, though, as it turns out.
We find that our "ghost" wasn't real at all,
just a broken fog machine.

Now comes the real adventure, the LEAP!

"I do not think the forest would be so bright,
nor the water so warm, nor love so sweet,
if there were no danger in the lakes."

- C.S. Lewis
