Sunday

“I think I can remember." She took a deep breath. “Just give me a second, okay?”
I could tell you a lot more about The Girl With No Name if I had the time. Suffice to say, we had become very good friends.

Nanao-san

If you have time to chatter
Read books
If you have time to read
Walk into mountain, desert and ocean
If you have time to walk
sing songs and dance
If you have time to dance
Sit quietly, you Happy Lucky Idiot

2013 Yokoso!

2013!
Can I tell you how happy I am that you are finally here?

The last couple of years completely took me out of my comfort zone. I'm grateful for that, and at the same time, I'm very glad to be somewhat settled down here in Portland. Recently, one of the strangest things that my brain has done is tricked me into thinking that the earthquake and tsunami was last year. . .
but it has indeed been much longer than that---
that was 2011!
(Kind of makes me wonder--what the heck did I do in 2012?)

My general feeling, though, is that 2013 is a year for friendship-
developing new friendships
and catching up with old friends -

On that note, I happened to find an interesting blog post by one of my closest friends, Kirk- who I just had the pleasure of catching up with this past Christmas in NY-
posted on this very day last year.

in the moment

Part 1:
a crowd gathers, a song is improvised
"What's the point?
What's the point?
What's the point?
. . .
What the hell's the point?
What the hell's the point?

And why would you go that far?"

Part 2:

just glad to have been there that day
